The city has a rich history \u2013 it was here that Albanian independence was declared in 1912 \u2013 and still retains a unique character.<\/p><p>The old town is impressive with its narrow stone streets, houses with Italian influences, cafes and restaurants. The port is the lively center of the city and at the same time the starting point for cruises to the surrounding islands and hidden bays.<\/p><p>Vlora\u2019s great advantage is its surroundings. Here you will find both sandy and pebble beaches, turquoise bays and the nearby Karaburun peninsula with a national park, which offers opportunities for hiking, swimming in clear water and exploring caves.
